Along the lanes I'd love to wend, near Artist's Mews, on Writer's Bend. Where fragrant flowers of every hue sparkle in the morning dew. I wish I lived in Carver's Valley, Quilter's Creek or Cross Stitch Alley. Just think of all the things I'd make, if I lived by Crafters Lake.......... No queue supermarket shopping
I was up with the larks just after 06:00 as usual this morning so at 07.15 I took 'he who would love to be obeyed but doesn't stand a hope in hell's chance' a cuppa. I suggested that we try shopping early in the morning before the crowds hit the supermarket. By the time he had faffed about a bit and got ready we managed to get to Morrison's just before 08:00. There was absolutely no queue whatsoever and the shelves were reasonably well stocked. We each took a trolley as I don't think they allow couples to shop together at the moment. We didn't need fruit and veg but were starting to get a bit low on pasta and tinned stuff. I love fresh fish and was able to stock the freezer with a nice variety. It's the first time I have shopped in weeks and with a bit of judicious planning we won't need to visit a big supermarket for another three or four weeks. I can have fruit and veg boxes delivered to the door and we will buy milk at our little mini supermarket. If you don't mind an early start it's well worth thinking about shopping at that time of day. Check first to see what the opening times are though as they all seem to have different rules and opening times at the moment

Excellent! So glad that they had what you needed. It's nice not to have to Ho very often...safer.
ReplyDeleteI'm always happy with an early start.
ReplyDeleteOur local Morrisons has an hour just for NHS workers from seven to eight, Monday to Saturday mornings and from nine to ten on SUndays. I believe they are starting to offer a discount to those same workers as well - I think that's great!
xx
Ours opens from 6 to 7 for NHS Staff. I hope they are offering a discount too but wouldn't know for sure. The frontline workers deserve every little perk or benefit they can possibly get. Bless them all.
DeleteGlad you managed to get all that you needed. I managed to get a large shop done before the lockdown and have been having the local store deliver for which I am very thankful.
ReplyDeleteMy local supermarket opens at 7am on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors so I've gone twice since lockdown - coming up to 5 weeks now - and it does help. They are very organized and have done everything possible to keep customers safe. Stock has been hit and miss - first trip there was no TP but plenty of bread, meat, dairy and frozen but tinned and packaged items were pretty bare. This last Thursday tins & packages were back but there was little frozen veg and no frozen fruit. There was enough bread but not the usual variety and the meat counter was getting a bit bare - although there did seem to be quite a bit poultry. Still no flour or yeast but they did have plenty of TP.
ReplyDeleteIts become an adventure!
