Men grrrrr

While shopping the other week I bought some couscous. Himself had a bit of a moan as he 'doesn't like couscous'. I cooked some that night and made a stir fry chicken and veg. I stirred the cooked couscous into it and suggested that if he wasn't keen I would make him something else... he ate every scrap and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Likewise, Joy's banana oat pancakes.  He doesn't like bananas... but he developed a real taste for the banana oat pancakes as soon as he tried them. He didn't like bread and butter pudding... until he tried mine. I do have to laugh as he can be the grumpiest so and so when he gets a bee in his bonnet. I will give him his due. He is always prepared to try something even if he has been adamant that he won't like it.

My latest fruit box arrived yesterday. It wasn't as generous as the first one but still very good value for money. There is a box of tangerines underneath the plums and there was also a box of raspberries.  I wanted some raspberry jam to have with scones so after tea I made a quick batch of jam with the rasps. I sieved out most of the seeds but left a few as it just didn't look right without a few raspberry seeds.

  1. Sounds very like mine can be at times. Is it a Yorkshire trait? The veg box looks lovely as does the jam. I made blueberry jam in my breadmaker early this year from some of the 18kgs I picked this season. I freeze some, sell some & give plenty away too. Take care, stay safe & hugs.

  2. Tom's trick is to say that he couldn't eat another thing and then eat something 10 mins later, I could kill him when he does that. lol

  3. Men are odd creatures aren't they? My husband will eat anything I cook (thankfully), but will sometimes say he's not keen on something he's happily eaten for years!

  4. Odd creatures indeed, but what would we do without them? Perhaps the answer is best left unsaid...lol!

  5. It sounds like you are a very good cook. At he tries what you make, and realizes how delicious it is.

  6. As you say - men!!!!!
I'm glad he wolfs it all down though!
The jam looks fab. I have to confess, I don;t like the seeds and tend to strain them all off before jamming. Ditto with blackberries.
