Weathering this storm

I listened with horror to the news last night.  My heart is aching for those who have lost loved ones and those who have a very ill loved one. Now is the time for everyone to pull together and listen to what we are being advised to do. My friend is 75 and has a chest complaint but has absolutely no intention of staying away from other people. I want to give her a shake and say 'just do as you are told'. I know it will be very hard and very lonely for many people but I don't believe we have any choice.
Those of us that already practice a frugal lifestyle will find it easier to weather this storm than those who have a culture of wandering around the shops spending. Thankfully I enjoy being at home so won't mind one bit that we are all pretty much going into isolation. I feel very sorry though for those who thrive in the company of other people. They are really going to struggle.  I bet you tube will be a great source of company for many people in the coming weeks and months. It's the perfect opportunity to learn a new craft or diy skill. I might even get to finish off all the little WIP's that have been stuffed in a cupboard somewhere.  I might get Tony to pick up a load of paint tonight.  It would be nice to give the whole house a bit of a refresh.

We bloggers can all keep one another company online. It might be that we post a bit more often so that those trapped at home alone can feel as though they have chatted to someone. It might only be trivial chit chat but it will possibly help alleviate loneliness. I will give it a few weeks and then get my 'box of junk' from out of the loft.  I'll post a daily photo as I have so many new readers now and you may not have seen the utter junk I am capable of producing.  It will give you the perfect opportunity to shake your head sadly at me at think about what you can make with the stuff that is hanging about the house.  :-)

  1. Loving the spirit, Cherie! Thank you.
I'm hoping to really get on top of the mess I call my home while so many things have been cancelled or postponed. Like you, I'm so glad I'm a homebody and also an introvert so being on my own doesn't feel too terrible.

  2. Although I don't have a blog of my own, I love reading blogs by other people. I have several health problems and don't go out much at all, so the blogs keep me company. I love crafting and get so many ideas from the blogs I read.

My husband and I enjoy each other's company and although we're together almost all the time we each do our own thing. I look forward to seeing your box of junk. I have a few of them tucked into a closet and under the bed in the spare room.

  3. Unfortunately, a lot of those with underlying health conditions, etc, won't be able to self-isolate unless they are completely self-sufficient. They will need to go out shopping for food so that they can eat. I found that out this morning when I ordered a week's shopping from Sainsbury's and went to pay and book a slot. There are three weeks of slots shown and all were already taken so both of us will be unable to follow the government's guidance.

    1. I think if you genuinely need to go out then sadly you really have no option. It is going to be very hard for those who have no one to call on for help. If we lived closer I would happily do your shopping. Please stay safe x

  4. We could compete for junk, lol. I noticed a doll's leg hanging out of a cupboard the other day, it only wants a head, maybe she will get it if we cannot get out, lol

  5. It’s always interesting to read your blog—I follow several and have come to feel as if you are all really my friends (though you’ve never heard of me! ). Yes please do keep the posts coming. They are appreciated more than you know.
