Along the lanes I'd love to wend, near Artist's Mews, on Writer's Bend. Where fragrant flowers of every hue sparkle in the morning dew. I wish I lived in Carver's Valley, Quilter's Creek or Cross Stitch Alley. Just think of all the things I'd make, if I lived by Crafters Lake.......... My washing machine is dying
The poor things is on its last legs and will need to be replaced this weekend. It has been making heckuva racket for ages. I rang a repair man and he said it's hardly worth repairing and I would be as well to buy a new one. I can't decide whether it is worth paying a bit extra and buying a brand name or just go for a cheaper model. It needs to have a 1400 spin but in truth the load size hardly matters when there is just the two of us. They are probably all made in the same factory somewhere abroad. I would welcome any suggestions.

My Bush made for Argos was the best machine I ever had.😘
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that Bush made washing machines until you mentioned it. I have been reading all the reviews and they sound very good
DeleteI have a Candy, very happy with it. I love the fact that it's got a timer, so I can set it to work overnight on the cheap rate. I can alter the spin speed, another bonus. And the programme counts down, so I know how much time is left before it finishes, something none of my previous machines did.
ReplyDeleteI have just been reading about them. They sound very good for the price
DeleteWe had to replace our washer a few years ago. We'd used a Maytag for over thirty years. In its place we bought a Sears which I believe was a store brand of Whirlpool (perhaps you don't have those names where you are.) It was the most basic model we could get, because I wanted simple controls that would reduce the chance of breaking or malfunctioning. And it's a top loading machine with a full agitator. I just couldn't see how the minimal water of a front loading machine, or a stubby little agitator on some top loading models, could get clothing clean. I'm so happy with our choice. And of course it has settings for small to extra-large loads, so you can match the amount of water used to the size of your loads. Good luck. I dread any kind of appliance shopping as there are so many choices. Usually my husband goes first and narrows it down to a couple and then we pick together.
ReplyDeleteWe don't see many top loading machines over here. The best machine I ever had was a toploader. Sadly, one wont fit in my kitchen as I would need to pull it out from under the counter.
DeleteI think it helps to read the reviews. I am still using a used Kenmore washer that I bought second hand over twenty years ago.
ReplyDeleteI spent most of this afternoon reading reviews... I am still no wiser as they all sound good.
DeleteI had a Zanussi for over 30 years and left it at my old house. The new owner bought it saying it was far better than hers even though it was older LoL
ReplyDeleteI get foreign makes you don't get out here in Greece so can't really recommend now, but I would go for the spin speed you want with a fairly simple Programme list - the more it does, the more can go wrong !!!

I have a Bosch and am very happy with it. I think you get rogue single machines in every make and type.

I second the comment above, we have a Zannusi and it's great.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in England, I had a Zanussi washing machine and a dishwasher. They the the best ever. Do they still make Zanussi? It has been a long time since I left my homeland.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Beko, cheap and cheerful which has been going for many years and survived storage and a move. Like you there is only the two of us but it works well.
