Many years ago I was passionate about cross stitch and have loads of kits. books, threads, needles and hoops. Yesterday the urge to learn embroidery came over me so I went online and ordered some embroidery transfers and a rather sweet book. Hopefully I will have my first project started by the weekend. I would appreciate any hints and guides that you can give me.
Not my thing so no tips or advice but I'm looking forward to seeing what you make very much.

It's on my list of things to learn as well. I'm a cross stitcher like you so I think that will really help. You will probably find it a little easier. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

DeleteAlways use an embroidery hoop! That's my main piece of advice, based on some pieces I did that ended up badly. A hoop will keep everything flat instead of bunching up under the strain of stitches.

Is a hoop better to use than a frame... I have both?
DeleteAnything that will keep the fabric somewhat taut and even will work.
DeleteYoooo need yoooootoooob videos. Easy to follow. Maybe get a book from the library. Good light is essential, near a window is best. Show us what you make.
