Guess who slept in

Every morning our alarm goes off at about 05.55. Tony gets up and brings me a cup of tea before getting dressed.  He heads off to work around 06.20 and I get up and start my day.  This morning I didn't  even hear the alarm and got the shock of my life wen I turned over and looked at the clock.  08.25. Hmmmm, I guess I must have needed a bit of a sleep in. It's a very rare occurrence when I sleep longer than 07:00.. Tony rang me at 10am and said that when he left for work I was absolutely out for the count. He left me sleep this morning which was unusual as he normally likes to clatter about until I am awake.

I needed to use up some leeks so I've have made a leek and potato soup which we can have as a starter this evening.  I made another cottage pie at the weekend so it will be cottage pie with veggies for tea. The soup is just a little extra and not something we would normally have before a meal. I haven't felt particularly hungry today so didn't bother with breakfast. Lunch was a hot smoked mackerel sandwich and to reduce the calories I only used one slice of bread. It filled me nicely while I sat and made some gorgeous crystal 'back jewellery' for Beckah's  wedding dress. I am simply playing with different styles and layouts at the moment. The wedding is quite a long way off so I have plenty of time to find the perfect design.

  2. I always said Shepherd's Pie but my English mother-in-law told me that if you make it with ground beef it is a Cottage Pie. (Only Shepherd's Pie if made with lamb. Which reminds me, my dear English mother in law passed away 2 years ago. I really miss her lamb with mint sauce. that was so doggone good.
Your husband was so sweet to let you sleep!
