A cracking night out and the kindness of strangers

Last night I went to my first ever domino drive. What a great night out and what lovely people. They were mostly older folk in their late seventies and eighties but oh such fun. A pie and pea supper was included in the huge cost... £3 each  :-) I won't mention that the taxi cost £12 each way... ouch.. But it was for a good cause and we will go every month now.  I even won £2 on the bingo.... All I need to do is encourage Tony to drink soft drinks and it will save a small fortune in taxi fares.  I haven't driven in a very long time and wouldn't be able to at the moment.  Until I could do an emergency stop I wouldn't be covered by insurance.  My dodgy leg just would not allow me to stop quickly. I've never understood why people don't feel that they have had a night out if alcohol isn't included but 'hey ho, each to their own'.

Now let me mention the kindness of strangers
The other week I asked for some advice on how to make my poor weak nails stronger. A few days later I received through the post a tube of nail cream that an online friend had bought for me.  Thank you Sandy, I was really touched by your kindness. My nails are already looking healthier

  1. What a lovely thing to do and it's working too. SO kind.

I wouldn't have thought of the emergency stop but it's a fair point, isn't it? When Beth and I went for that meal at Prezzo, that's what the taxi cost but, like you, we felt it was worth it now and again.

  2. I am the ideal designated driver. Hardly drink anything at home, and can easily have a good time without any alcohol at all when out.

  3. That sounds like fun. Sorry that you can't make a sudden stop, but you are wise to not drive. I may go play Bingo tonight, too.
