Sugared cranberries

I made some last year and they were so yummy I made some more yesterday. On Sunday I made a simple sugar syrup using my lavender sugar and added an orange peel to the pan. I brought the syrup to a simmer and then let it cool a little before pouring it over some fresh cranberries.  I left them to soak overnight so that they could absorb some of the gorgeous syrup. Yesterday when I came home from work I scattered some sugar on a plate and used a slotted spoon to transfer them to the sugared plate. I sprinkled a little bit more sugar on top and then rolled them around the plate to make sure that they were well coated in sugar.  After a little while they were dry so I put them into a pretty bowl.  They will keep for about a week but might go a bit sticky.  Don't throw the sugar syrup out  reuse it to make some more sugared cranberries. I added the sugar from the plate to the syrup and boiled it up. It us currently in the fridge where it will stay for a few days until I want to make some more. Then I made a huge moussaka for tea for today and tomorrow. I am so pleased that I did as I am absolutely exhausted today. I didn't sleep very well last night and was up just after 6am to get ready for work. Not sure whether I have the energy for woodcarvers tonight. I certainly don't have enough to take any more photos of the house. I will do that tomorrow.

  1. They do look good, I like to use the same technique for grapes which looks impressive amongst other fruit in a bowl.
