The injection

Well, I had the injection this morning... it was very painful but not unbearable and if it gives me some pain relief for a while it will have been worth it. The doctor said that in the past six months he has been asked to do dozens of the injections whereas before that he only had to do a few now and then. He thinks it must be some sort of new trend in the medical profession. My leg will feel numb for about 8 hours and the steroid might take a few days to work. Home now and planning on a quiet afternoon knitting. I wore one of my favourite pairs of hand knitted socks... they were admired by the medical staff.. :-)

  1. I found that after my steroid shots, about 7 - 10 days after I felt great. Obviously they are meant to target the specific place where they are injected but it must spread throughout the body as I generally felt better all over. Most aches and pains went away. 5 weeks on and I think the effects are maybe fading a bit. Had shoulder pain again last night but definitely still better than it was. They will only give them every three months here but not sure if I will go back for more. Will have to check out the effects of long term steroid use plus I have to get my other issues sorted first. Hope it helps you as much as it has me.

  2. I hope you get good pain relief, Cherie. It's interesting that use of the injections has increased so much recently. Rest and recuperate!

  6. Hi Cherie, I do hope it gives you some relief. If you have to have another injection, to help with the pain when you have it, perhaps you could ask for sedation? I had sedation when I had mine, and it made a big difference.
