Gosh it's been warm

Well when I say warm I mean warmish.... I didn't need to wear a coat today on my hobble around the block. The hip is killing me but we won't talk about that. I am sure you must be sick of hearing me moan). My friend Kath and I were just saying how lovely the leaf colour is and how this time last year the leaves were all down and finished. Tony has a yen to gather some bags of leaves to make leaf mould..... I wouldn't mind having some lovely composted leaves for next year. My garden is looking really rather pretty at the moment.  If it's decent some time this week I will take a few photo's of the colour out there and post a few pics. My penstemon is looking gorgeous and I will have a load more next year. I trimmed them back ages ago and simply stuck all the trimmings into a big pot of old compost... they have all rooted beautifully. The avocado seedlings are doing really well and the date stones and pomegranate seeds that sprouted look fine.   I will be able to open a garden centre at this rate  :-)
The apple tree has really done us proud this year. It's only a few years old but the crop has been enormous. The apples are quite big with a lovely crisp not too sweet flesh. A whole one is too much to eat in a sitting so we have been sharing them. I pulled a load off the tree today and there must be at least fifteen still to pick. I popped it into the teacup to give you an idea of the size. Speaking of teacup.  If you have been following me for a while you will know that we adore Christmas... Well while we were away we had a wander around some charity shops and bought this lovely Christmas Pudding teapot.  It's quite a big one and will hold quite a few cups of tea... The cost...….  £3..... what a bargain.  Alexander called in yesterday and rolled his eyes...   How many Christmas teapots does that make he asked?..... hmmmm… four, I replied..…. Do you think we need any more?

  1. Lovely teapot-it would have been rude to leave it in the shop.

  2. It's really pretty, Cherie. I love teapots, too. I only have one, but I'm thinking of rescuing my mom's and bringing them here. She passed a few years ago, and drank tea every morning. I had to stop taking walks when my hips got really bad. Hope your surgery date is soon.

    1. I see the specialist on Thursday and will hopefully know a little more. The walks are becoming more and more difficult but I am trying to keep going

  4. That Christmas teapot is marvellous!

We used to have a set of cups and saucers very like the one in the apple picture. VERY like it! I think they were identical :) But I can't drink tea and my husband won't drink tea so we let them travel on to a new home :)

    1. The teapot is lovely isn't it. My friend and I like to drink our morning coffee from the tea cups. A mug would be too much and the cup is just the right size.

  5. Our apple trees have lots of apples but the squirrels, birds and deer get the majority of the apples. Wow what a festive and lovely plum pudding tea pot.

  6. Oh I love your Christmas teapot. I saw a gorgeous one in the shape of a Christmas tree in Asda this morning but resisted.
