Along the lanes I'd love to wend, near Artist's Mews, on Writer's Bend. Where fragrant flowers of every hue sparkle in the morning dew. I wish I lived in Carver's Valley, Quilter's Creek or Cross Stitch Alley. Just think of all the things I'd make, if I lived by Crafters Lake.......... Coconut oil
I have been using coconut oil as a moisturiser all over my body for ages. Just lately I have noticed that my hair is looking really coarse and dry. This morning I washed my hair and then I melted about a quarter teaspoon of coconut oil on my hand and rubbed it through my towel dried hair before blow drying it. It feels like silk now and looks glossy and healthy. Bottled hair conditioner usually leaves me looking a bit lank but my hair looks great today. It's nice to think I can use something so pure and natural and get a good result. Most grocery stores sell jars of coconut oil and a little goes a very long way. You can use it to brush your teeth and because it is edible you can bake with it too. My hubby's friend enjoys it on toast in place of butter.

My daughter, who has life threatening nut allergy, can and does use coconut oil for everything! It certainly works well as a moisturiser and I sometimetimes do a cocnut wrap for my hair by putting it on and leaving it wrapped in a turbie while I eat my porridge.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try this and see if it helps with static hair x
ReplyDeleteI get really bad static hair and the coconut oil has calmed it down. Don't use too much or it will really go lank.
DeleteI'm so glad you mentioned this idea; I have a bottle of coconut oil inherited from my daughter when she moved and had no idea how to dispose of it. I know some people use it for eating but it's one of the fats that is bad for your arteries so using it on my hair instead is something I can feel comfortable trying.
ReplyDeleteCoconut oil is so much better for the digestion, Tom tolerated it when he had gall stones.
ReplyDeleteWe use it for lots of things including cooking, frying with it makes the house smell so much nicer than usual fats and potatoes roasted in coconut oil are yummy.
