A little goes a long way

I have in my house a tub of gorgeously fragrant pot pourri. For some reason it had been put in the garage when I was having a bit of a sort out.  This morning I was looking for some nice plant pots  (another story)  when I found the pot pourri.  To make it go a bit further I have added some pine cones that fell from the tree at the bottom of my garden, roses from a bouquet that Tony bought me... I dried them when they were starting to look a bit tired.  I have added orange slices that I dried  earlier this year and all manner of pretty little flowers and petals that I have dried throughout the year. I have mixed them together in a pretty glass bowl and popped them onto one my little tables.  They smell beautiful.

Then I cooked  a casserole for tomorrow night.. we have friends coming for supper and it will taste so much nicer by tomorrow. While that was simmering away I decided to put some houseplants in the bathroom.. You may recall the 'softpot workshop' that Tony and I enjoyed last year. The softpots have been outdoors all summer and still look pretty. In the corner of the bathroom I have added a softpot which contains a small cutting from one of the busy lizzies that I had in the pond.  I am getting a yearning to add more houseplants around my home and might pop out to the garden centre this afternoon to see if they have any that appeal to me. My seedlings look sweet but they aren't exactly the kind of plants that I am looking to  have in the house on a full time basis. I have included a photo of the beautiful tree that lives in a large pot in my garden. It is currently turning the most incredible shades of orange and red and is the first thing I see when I open the porch door. I love this time of year when everything is going out in a blaze of colour
