Tony had an appointment with a plastic surgeon at the James Cook Hospital and he had three stitches in his face this morning. We have been really amazed at our NHS just lately after reading about waiting times and staff shortages. This past week we have both had cause to use it and we cannot fault the service that we received. We caught the local commuter train which takes six minutes to get from our station to the hospital. Anyone thinking of relocating would be hard pressed to find somewhere as beautiful and convenient as Nunthorpe. The property is ridiculously cheap and the people are very friendly and warm.
When we got back I popped to the local shop and bought him some goodies to eat. He is asleep on the sofa now. He was told to take it easy for the rest of the day so I can hardly ask him to put the plastic roofing on the pergola. It arrived yesterday and I can't wait to get the job done. It will give me a really useful covered area to pot plants and protect some of the more hardy seedlings. It means I won't have to worry about them getting to wet but won't need to wait until spring to sow them so they will flower earlier.
It is so nice to hear the positives about the NHS the media only ever report on their faults. Without the wonderful staff my husband would not be alive, I have a lot to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Tony is okay. It's encouraging to hear that you had such a positive experience. I feel the same way here in Los Angeles. When I went to the hospital to have my hips replaced, everything ran like clockwork. I was so grateful and relieved. The media really focuses on the negative. Hospital staff are such dedicated, hard working people.
