Mussel shells

For lunch yesterday I had some delicious mussels in white wine sauce.... Tony isn't keen on mussels so I only have them when he isn't around. They hit the spot just nicely. Now, you all know by now the way my mind works.  I just cannot pass up an opportunity to craft.  Every time I eat mussels I can see a dozen or more things to do with the shells and yesterday was no exception. I gave them a good scrub then soaked them for a while in some water and bleach to kill off any bacteria.  I put them outside in the sunshine to dry before I attacked them with some acrylic paint. I added a little bit of pound shop bling and some snips of wire.  Then I glued them onto a large tile from my stash.  The plan is to attach this to the outside of my workshop wall. I will put it on the shady side as the sun will probably fade the acrylic paint.

Yummy

Don't forget to sterilise them

  2. Love it. I may have to make myself eat chilli mussels next week. Just for the shells you understand, nothing to do with tasty little morsels dripping with chilli and garlic.

  6. They are very pretty! When we go on holidays to the beach each Summer, there are many hinged shells that always remind me of butterflies. I've never thought to paint them though! Meg:)
