Bargain eggs and a knitted shrug

I finished knitting the little shrug this morning. I obviously won't be wearing it with this t shirt but I am pleased with how it has turned out. Sometimes it is a little cool for bare shoulders but too warm for a full blown cardigan/jumper.  It will protect the back of my neck from the sun without making me overheat.
Later on, we went to collect a tray of eggs from the farm and spotted a sign on the egg table saying 'seconds'. There wasn't anything there so I asked the young woman what exactly was a 'second' egg. She showed me some that she had just collected.  The shells are a bit lumpy or slightly chalky looking.  Needless to say we bought the tray of seconds that she was putting together.  30 free range eggs for £2 is a great bargain and in any case I am not planning on eating the shells:-)

    It does make you wonder about how fussy we seem to have got. Who cares what the shells look like. I would have snapped them up like a shot.
    Love the little shrug, you're right, sometimes all you need is your arms covered. Bet you'll be making another one of those.

    People are too particular; we've gotten used to "perfect" everything, from egg shels to fruits and vegetables to the boxes our cereal or crackers come in! I'd have bought the eggs, too.

    What a cute shrug, and now I'm wondering if this is the solution to my office wear dilemma - I have a lot of sleeveless tops but the office is air-conditioned. Thanks for the idea.

      I turned a couple of fluffy scarves into shrugs quite a few years ago. They are so comfortable to wear.

    Your shrug is cute. I wear shawls in the air conditioning for the same reason. Great deal on the eggs. I buy mine from my neighbor. She sells the small ones at a discount.

      I love knitting and wearing shawls. They just add a nice extra layer.
      The 'egg place' is about to bring some new stock into the fields. They will lay very small eggs for a while and I will be able to buy a tray of 30 for £2. They are a great size for making pickled eggs

    Gorgeous shrug. We usually get the 'second' eggs from my brothers chickens and the bantam eggs too as most won't buy them as they prefer the bigger eggs - the smaller eggs taste better! Emmax
