Roasting pumpkins

Today I roasted my first ever pumpkins and oh my word they were tasty

First I washed and dried them then cut them in half and removed the seeds and stringy membrane. I rubbed them inside and out with olive oil before roasting them cut side down for 30 minutes at 190.

While they were roasting I cooked some basmati rice and  fried some minced beef with celery, onions and garlic   When the pumpkins had finished roasting I filled them with a mix of the mince and rice. I popped the tops back on and roasted them for a further twenty minutes.  I served them with plenty of the rice. They were utterly delicious.

  2. Are they actually tasty? I don't know a lot about pumpkins but over in (here in America where I first encountered the pumpkin) I was told that there were different ones for eating and different ones for decoration???

    1. They were really tasty. I'm cooking a vegetarian version tonight. We have friends coming for tea and they'll make a pretty impressive vegetarian main course

  4. Hi. The Taste the Difference Belgian dark drinking chocolate from Sainsbury's was £3.50 a jar. I couldn't see any other similar one so I hope that was what you meant. xx
