The physio confirmed this morning that I do indeed have arthritis in my hip joint. Oh the joys of getting older. He advised me against walking too far and suggested that cycling/swimming would keep my hip mobile without putting too much strain on the joint. It won't be as sociable but I suppose we can stop part way for a chat. I shall miss walking through the cornfields but can cycle the footpaths just as easily.
The weather has changed dramatically today. It was a beautiful blue sky morning but is now overcast with the threat of rain. At least I won't need to water the garden. Hope it's okay wherever you are
Sorry to hear of your hip Arthritis Cheri, I am riddled with it but touch wood have no hip problems unlike you which is sad when you enjoy walking.I take Devils Claw which is a natural Anti Inflammotory (sp) and I find it does help.On the cycling front they reckon those electric bikes are good although a bit expensive unless of course you already have an ordinary bike to use.Keep well...Wendyanne
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendyanne. I will look into Devils claw...
ReplyDeleteOh, that's what I was afraid it was; I'm sorry. I had both of my hips replaced due to severe OA. Am now able to walk and live life pain free. It helps to get an xray and see a hip surgeon. They can tell you how bad it is. Having the diseased joint removed is like having an infected tooth fixed. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI think surgery is always a last resort on the NHS. I will find out from my doctor how bad the joint actually is when I see him in a week or two. In the meantime I will do the exercises suggested by the physio and see if it helps.
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear that you have had a diagnosis of arthritis Cherie. I hope you can find at least some relief through the excercises.
ReplyDeleteHugs-x-
So sorry to hear your news. It might be worth doing a little research into diet as some little changes can help.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this Cherie :-(
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your arthritis; my physio person that I saw for hip pain told me we all get some as we get older but the exercises he gave me did wonders. I still have to be careful not to over-work the joints though. It's a balance between keeping supple and strong, and respecting limits. Good luck with your therapy.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this. My late mother always took feverfew and it did wonders for her. She said it also did wonders at keeping away colds. Fingers crossed it doesn't limit you too much. LM x
