Knitting a teddy bear

My little book of knitted teddy bear patterns arrived in the post on Friday. Last night I had a browse through and settled down to make a start on a bear. I am planning on making it a whole wardrobe of clothes... just for the fun of it. This one is the trial run to see how I can adjust the basic pattern. I quite fancy making a bear with loads of cable patterns in it.  I think that it will add texture and individuality.

    I quite fancy making a bear myself! I once had a little cloth stuffed bear given to me that didn't have a face. I had it for a few years and thought, hmmm...I can make a face! I got some black thread and carefully sewed on eyes...nose...and the smile! The pleasure I got from creating that smile still gives me a nice feeling. I hang this little bear on my Christmas tree (he is red) and I love seeing the smile I made for him.
