Yesterday my neighbour Janice and I trimmed a huge chunk off the hedge that separates our gardens. Then I suggested that we wait until Tony got home and he could cut it down by a couple of feet.. I bet he cursed me under his breath...Anyway, He cut the hedge down by at least a couple of feet and it looks spectacular. The colour of the berries really pop now. The first photo doesn't do the colour justice but oh wow does the second one. It looks stunning and runs the full length of the garden. The birds will have a real feast this year.
There are some gorgeous blogs to have a look at over on Janns blog...….I love looking through the recipes that some bloggers post. I always want to try them but if I am being honest I rarely get around to it. I think this autumn I will start making a few things that I have never tried before.

I planted a Pyracantha hedge at the cottage in Tydd, the birds loved it and it was full of nests. Watching the parents flying in and out was awe inspiring, the control was amazing. They were well out of the reach of any stray cats and most other predators, even the grey squirrels kept away. The flowers are pretty but the berries just glow in the autumn.
ReplyDeleteHow i love the hedges that separate th a gardens in England! Yours looks especially pretty. Lucky birds!
ReplyDeleteThis gorgeous hedge is pretty all year round. It starts in March with apple green fresh shoots. Then in late June we have blossom. It looks stunning when that happens. Now it is full of berries and depending how hungry the birds are they might last all winter... I don't mind the birds taking them all though
