A bit of blethering post

I moved the avocado plants indoors last night as the weather is turning cooler. This morning I put one in each bathroom. I am eyeballing the windowsills in there and considering setting up a bit of a growing area just to get my seedlings through the winter.  Heck! houseplants are supposedly coming back into fashion. I remember owning a giant 'swiss cheese plant '. It grew to an enormous size a gazillion years ago. I was only a very young mum at the time and looking back it seems that everything I planted grew.  I had a huge yucca that grew too big for the house so I cut it into chunks and pushed each chunk into a plant pot…. every flippin bit rooted and I gave them all away to friends. I put mine out in the garden and it died one very cold winter. Now I am wandering around the house looking for 'bright and warm' places to put my baby plants.... thank goodness Tony doesn't mind. He is a total gem bless him. I'll take a photo of my seedlings 'in situ' this weekend  so you can see what Tony has to put up with.

The pain in my hip isn't too bad today. I am chucking turmeric down my throat like it's going out of fashion. I mix it into a thick paste with a couple of grinds of black pepper and some honey to bind it. I will be glad when the  glucosamine and the turmeric tablets arrive. Tony suggested I try 'Tiger Balm' which we have in the cupboard.. I have rubbed it on for the past couple of days and I smell very strongly of  menthol…. I will clear a head cold in the blink of an eye of anyone walking past me.  At bed time Tony gives me a hot water bottle wrapped in fleece to put against my aching leg.  I'm not sleeping very well but in fairness I never have done so this probably isn't anything to do with my hip pain.
I'm heading out for a gentle stroll with my friend this morning and then this afternoon the whist group starts back up. It will be nice to catch up with everyone.

Oh, and one more thing!.. I have rediscovered  Calanetics.  My sister and I used to do this about twenty years ago. I am working on building up the muscles in my hip in order to support the joint. If you have never heard of it then have a quick peep on you tube.  There are loads of videos there and I do know from past experience that it works very quickly

  1. I have a singing hip and find that it comes and goes. I really do not want an op.
Maybe you've just done something to annoy it, I think you will find it will ease off in time.

    1. I think I probably walk too far over rough terrain. I have been advised to cut the walking down

  2. I was not able to sleep because my hips ached so badly at night with osteoarthritis. The pain would radiate, and my legs would shake. Certain activities made it worse, and I would get a flare. Am now able to sleep pain free, but I had to have both hips replaced. They were bone on bone.

    1. I'm wondering if that is what has troubled my sleep. For as long as I can remember my leg has ached but I ignored the pain... my own daft fault. I will be seeing my doctor next week to see what he suggests now that arthritis has been diagnosed
