The fabric cement plant pot experiment

Tony went off to the footie an hour ago and I have been up to mischief already.... :-)  Look what I'm in the process of making.... Fabric Cement Pots.....  I saw them on good ole You Tube and had to try my hand at them  I have made two and they are currently drying in the conservatory as it is drizzling outside.

I put an old sheet down on the floor and then put a big sheet of old plywood to work on. This is an experiment and I have no idea how well they will dry.  I will let you know in a few days.

It needs to be thinner than this as the fabric soaks up a lot of the water. Or perhaps soak the fabric first...

An old curtain that I was given. I cut the best bits off to keep for another project. Soak it thoroughly in the cement/sand mix.

I couldn't bring myself to throw away the hem that I had cut off. I soaked it in the cement and added it around what will be the bottom of the pot. The image implies that it is straight sided.  It is actually quite flared.  I really am looking forward to seeing how it dries.

  1. Interesting! I''m looking forward to seeing how it turns out too.

Does your husband leave home wistfully wondering what things will look like when he returns? :D

    1. He looks forward to seeing what I have made each time he goes. It doesn't usually involve this kind of mess though.

  2. Wow, can't wait to see the result, can see you making a lot of these if they turn out okay.
